The Life of St Frideswide

The Korrigan Consort welcomes you to join our celebration of a phenomenal figure in Oxford: St Frideswide, the Patron Saint of Oxford. Our concert kicks off a week of events at Christ Church Cathedral in celebration of Frideswide and her dedication to the wellbeing of her local community. We will follow in her footsteps by telling her story through an evening of reflection with medieval and Renaissance polyphony, with particular focus on music from convents in France, Italy and the Low Countries. The concert will also feature a new piece setting the legend of St. Frideswide, as well as a reading of Jacquelyn Holderness’ new book, The Princess Who Hid in a Tree. In the historical setting of the Frideswide Chapel, this concert in particular marks the permanent establishment of the Frideswide Voices as the official girls’ choir at Christ Church Cathedral.

Songs of Rebellion

We’re going on tour! As a part of our journey to compete at the North Wales Choral Festival, we’ll be performing at St. Cynbryd’s, Abergele. From arrangements of Canadian pirate songs to Norwegian folk songs, we’ll be sharing some of our favourite pieces from the past year with our Welsh comrades. Don’t miss out!
